Wendy has been writing for over ten years and is working on a fantasy series for children aged nine to twelve. She won 1st prize for an in-house writing competition 2018, for a short story Going Nowhere, and completed a Diploma in Creative Writing at Southern Cross University. Armed with Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, she provides writing workshops and guidance to other authors throughout their writing journey. She is also looking at developing writing workshops for kids.
Wendy’s first book Hayden’s Bedtime published in March 2019 is a fun bedtime story about her grandson Hayden, who has trouble feeling safe at bedtime. It’s part verse and prose, which has dad checking to make sure the coast is clear. Dad checks, behind the door, under the bed, inside the cupboard, and in the drawer; finding all sorts of things. Book 1 of her children’s’ fantasy series will be out in August 2019.
‘What I like most about writing for children is giving them the opportunity to explore their imagination and bring to them something that will draw them to books and reading.’
